Revision
Am I the only person who doesn’t found revising helpful? at all? I’m coming to the end of almost 2 months of exams and I can say I’ve not revised for any of them in great depth. Sure I’ve skim read through a few areas I was very unsure of, but on the whole I’ve done 0 serious revision. Why? I really don’t find it helpful. I’ve tried to revise in the past, and just found myself getting frantic and worried, revision basically shows up things to me I don’t know. Which I guess is the entire point. But rather than reassuring me and allowing me to relearn it, I just get pissed off, and extremely agitated.
I’ve always been of the opinion that if you don’t know something, or can’t understand it the first time you learn it and go over it. Then the chances of you being able to pick it up just by re-reading it over and over are slim at best. I’m the sort of person, intellectually, that if I am going to remember something, I will, first time. But if I can’t remember it, or I can’t ‘get my head around it’ so to speak, I probably never will. And thus, revising is a waste of my time.
I seem to be able to scrape through with good grades in all my exams in the past with no revision, although my tutors often use the same ‘you could have done better if you’d revised’ rhetoric. So, do any of you share my views on revising? or do you find it helpful? Do you think it helps to improve your grades?
I revised for 2 of my gcse exams, ironically, those two were the lowest grades I got. O_o
Revision doesn’t help me, but it’s good to refresh your memory once in a while (I couldn’t do trigonometry at all now.
)
Dude, that is seriously scary, you think the exact same as I do. I believe that if I don’t know it now, I won’t know it by the time the exmas are ready. I may go over a few improtant dates in History, but I don’t thik I have ever properly revised. I just can’t do it. I believe everything you just wrote. I’m seriously scared now…
It’s review… Revision means you already made mistakes and you have to fix them
Looking back over (learnt or written) notes in an academic subject, in preparation for a test or an exam (e.g. a GCSE). This term is only used in British English (in American English, it is reviewing)

I’ve never reviewed/revised before tests and have always seemed to do well in school. I usually plan on reviewing before tests, but never actually get to it. I’d leave it for so long that if I tried to do it, I’d just be frantic and nervous about the test like what you said.

I don’t think it does I didn’t revise and I got an A two C’s and the rest straight B’s.
