The Abuse Of Evolution
You know, it pains me greatly when you see these evangelists, and creationists, who stand up on stage and mock science. When they mock evoloution. I don’t wish to tread on to the rather more delicate toes of the whole “God, or no God” debate, I think I have made my feelings on that rather clear in the past, however I do wish to adress the creationism vs. evolution saga.
I’m not going to assume everybody who’s reading this will be 100% sure of what creationism is or what evolution is, so I’ll quickly explain. Creationism is the idea that god (or some divine being) created the earth and everything in it, evolution is the idea that animals and humans came to be as they are, over many millions of years, through changes. We evolved. I’m sure you know what that means. Obviously these two ideas clash.
Now if you look at it bluntly. There is no evidence for creationism, there is evidence for evolution, compelling evidence. We can PROVE evolution. I’m not going in to that now because it’s tedious and not really what the point of this post is. But if you doubt evolution can be proved, google it and read up on it.
But what annoys me, is when you see creationists, stand up on a stage, adressing people, sometimes even children, and laughing off evolution with lines such as “You really think we’re related to monkeys or apes” “Is your grandmother or grandfather an ape?”. I’ve seen a video on youtube, which for the life of me I can’t find now, where an Australian creationists (who’m I know of, but can’t remember his name) stands in front of a group of children, no older than 6 or 7, and shows them slides of monkeys and apes, while asking questions like “Do your grandparents look like that?” “Do your parents look like that?” “Do you think we’re related to monkeys” and t hey all laugh and chorus in union “no!”, watching indoctrination by lies is not pretty. The ignorance of some people is staggering. Of course evolution is not suggesting we’re the product of monkeys. And what infuriates me more is the fact that they act like and claim that we are descended from them. We are not ancestors of Monkeys or Apes, we share a common ancestor, that is how we are linked.
The whole argument many creationists put up “monkeys only give birth to monkeys” is irrelevant. Because we are not the result of monkeys screwing. Saying that evolution is false because we are not the children of apes is using the wrong conclusions to judge something. And I think many of these creationists know it, it just sounds good to their legions of guilable sheep.
What I find most ironic of all however, is that these people hate science, they hate evolution. They don’t need science they say, they have god. Well if I was a doctor and a hardcore creationists came in to me and I diagnosed him with cancer, instead of offering treatment, I’d be tempted to tell him to go and pray harder, maybe that will cure him. You want to insult and spit on the name of science? You shouldn’t get the benefits of it.

Those videos made me angry.

It’s topics like this that just make such hatred between people. I wonder if creationists ever stopped to wonder “is this argument really worth it?”
Wow.. I don’t know what I believe, but being an Evolutionist sure makes sense to me. Obviously, following evolution, we adapted to changes, and became from primitive primapes, to what we are now.
You don’t become the dominamant species on a planet overnight. Through millions of years, changes, and challenges, I believe we surpassed each species one by one, each stage into evolution contained all the previous did, and learned more.
Our bodies changes to upright, to be more agile, obviously a huge advantage over other many species. With less enemies, we became smarter, learning to out-do more.
The Creationist theory:
A higher being made us come here, we were born dominant. Highly doubtful to me, as opposed to the evolutionist theory.
Food for thought.. Thanks for another blog, Brad.
