The Idiocy Of The Liberal Masses
As many of you will not know, a debate was scheduled to take place earlier this evening, between Histornian and Holocaust-denier David Irving, and BNP (British National Party) Leader, Nick Griffin. This debate was subject to a lot of controversy with many (mostly students) believing that neither Irving nor Griffin should be allowed publicity due to their extreme, and some might say, innapropriate views on race and creed. Many students blocked the doors in an attempt to prevent people getting in, people who were attempting to get inside to view the debate were heckled and harassed, and later on the building was stormed by students and eggs were apparently thrown. The debate was delayed, and will now most likely not take place.
Now the main point I’m attacking here, is these people, didn’t want Griffin and Irving to get any PUBLICITY, now on the British News at 10 the story was given extensive coverage and both Griffin and Irving were profiled in detail. On the BBC news site, this story is featured. These two people whom the students and protesters have tried to stifle and obstruct, have infact been given a bigger pedastal, by them, due to the protests. I doubt, no I KNOW had this much fuss not been made there would be no way the debate would have been reported on national news, or featured on a major news site.
If you tried to silence what they believe, you have truly failed and not only have you failed, you’ve projected them to a bigger stage If university students believe this sort of thing solves ANYTHING. I really fear what this country will be like when their generation is running it.
I’m all for freedom of speech and I think that if these guys want to make asses out of themselves on TV, then by all means. I don’t support how counter-opposition makes a huge deal out of things though..it usually goes too far and ends up gaining more attention for the other side. It’s all part of the game though.
As you’ve said before some people can’t handle Liberalism. I hate all protestors and lobby groups. In this case they created the opposite effect of what they wanted to do.
If you want to make changes run for government. Governments won’t listen to a group of students.
